Thayer School is very fortunate to be able to announce the return to the faculty at the beginning of the second semester last month of Millett G. Morgan as Assistant Professor of Electrical Engineering. Although Doctor Morgan's previous appointment to the faculty was cut short during the first year, 1941, by a call to join the Electrical Engineering Department at M.I.T. for the purpose of giving vital wartime courses in advanced radio and radar to officers of the Army and Navy, those who knew him here will remember their association with him with pleasure and respect. After approximately one year at M.I.T. he entered an even more vital phase of war work as designer of radar equipment for the U.S. Navy, in the employ of the Submarine Signal Company. Early in the summer of 1944, he was assigned by this company to a group working on fundamental research at the Seismological Laboratory at California Institute of Technology in Pasadena. After completion of this project, he received the degree of Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University and transferred, in January 1946, to the University of California at Berkely where he combined teaching and research on a Navy project.
