Your correspondent this month is BobArchibald, a rather dubious selection for reporting news of West Coast '38ers, let alone that of other classmates. But here goes on a few random shots of what news has been garnered.
Dr. Peter Talbot, in residency at a San Francisco hospital for the prime purpose of delivering babies, last fall was elected president of the Dartmouth Outing Club of Northern California. Pete did much in the erection of a lodge on Donner Summit where excellent skiing will be enjoyed by Dartmouth alumni and friends. John Hanan, also in San Francisco, assisted in the project. John is with a brokerage firm, is still handsome and healthy.
Tom Macey passed out so many cigars in celebration of family additions that he's become a cigar smoker himself. Reason for his last celebration was twin sons, bringing the total to four offspring (we think). C., and during Christmas by Hal Berman, who is finishing his work at Yale Law School. Although modesty would prevent his telling it, Newman is one of the more popular members of the faculty at University of California's School ef Law. He's nicely married and the proud pappy of a boy and a girl.
Passing through California a few months ago, Lt. Comdr. Vining Sherman picked up his wife, a licensed pilot and former teacher of would-be transport flyers, on his way to Annapolis. Vining, now a regular in the Navy, is continuing his good work in the fields of writing and painting. This work is perhaps currently interrupted by his attending line school for Naval officers at Annapolis. ... .Don Simmons, just out of the Navy, was present in Los Angeles for the recent dinner in honor of President Dickey. Don appeared happy about the prospects of settling again into civilian life but divulged no specific plans concerning his future whereabouts. Dave Balmer and wife, Betty, are, as he puts it, infanticipating. The new arrival, expected in May, will be number two in the Balmer household. Dave is a personnel technician for San Diego County, commuting from nearby La Joila.
From across the Pacific comes word from King Van Denburg, news correspondent for the McGraw-Hill Publishing Company. He writes, "My wife and 51/2-year-old son are with me. Just now, after five months of working out of Bombay, I am in the process of loading them and about a ton of personal and business luggage into" a station wagon and starting on a 10,000-mile tour of India." King's address is c/o National City Bank of New York, 293 Hornby Rd., Bombay, India While we're still on the Pacific, what has happened to Warren King.? When last seen, at about the time of V-J Day, he was coaching a Navy football team in New Caledonia, waiting for equipment to arrive, being fully cognizant that his Chief of Staff definitely expected some wins over the Army.

Dick Woodman is now associated with the Stouffer Corporation and located in New York. To offer any semblance of continuity in this paragraph, we'll simply say that, so far as is known, Woody is not expecting.
Down Dallas way a visit was recently made at the Beck residence. Henry was found without abundant hair. Nevertheless he's prospering and palpitating with a very gorgeous wife, and constructing lots of buildings for his father's contracting company. Dallas cordiality was as warm as ever, and the visit was far too short.

So much for news, but we're still wondering the whereabouts of many of you men, so drop Reno a line. Where is Kingsley Birge? No word from him in years, seems like. What's happened to Sandy MacCleod? When last observed, he was sliding a plane into a small field in Lawrence, Kansas. That was in '43Sandy made a beautiful landing in a Navy trainer, but he forgot to lower his wheels. What is the latest on Red Heath? Prior to his long tour on the U.S.S. Hornet, Red is remembered at the Copley in Boston for requesting a waiter to return his partially eaten chicken so he could finish chewing the neck, this being subsequent to receipt of a large check for a table of six, including the gal who is now his wife.
Getting personal, my wife and Susie, the latter with nine months in the world, and I, would be delighted to see any of you who may arrive in southern California. Happy Easter to you all.
