Two brothers, both graduates of Dartmouth, rank high among the prominent leaders of present-day China, their native country, according to information supplied by Dr. Wing-Tsit Chan, Professor of Chinese Culture at Dartmouth.

The older of the two, Quentin Pan '24, is according to Dr. Chan "a well known liberal, easily one of the most outstanding in China today." After graduating from Dartmouth, he returned to China to become editor of the Progressive Youth magazine published by the National Chinese YMCA. Later Pan became professor at the Tsing Hua University, also called the American University, and eventually served as dean of the faculty of that institution.

His brother, Francis K. Pan '26, has been connected with the Chinese administration in varying official capacities tor the past twelve years. After receiving his A.B. at Dartmouth, he was awarded the M.C.S. degree from Tuck School the following year and the D.C.S. from New York University in 1928. He has been in the Chinese government successively as chief secretary, Ministry of Railways; director, departments of administration and personnel, Ministry of Communications; director, National Highway Transportation Administration; and counsellor, Ministry of Communications.

According to Dr. Chan, Quentin Pan may be reached by mail at Tsing Hua University, Peiping, and Francis Pan may be addressed at the Ministry of Communications, Nanking.
