DID YOU MISS IT? Our biggest event of the year? The 500 alumni, wives and guests seated in orderly, packed rows before the youthful, vigorous undergraduate Glee Club on April 2nd at Hotel Cleveland's lavish Ball Room .... the array of spring colors in new formats.... the resonant rendition of the "Winter Song" by the expanded Glee Club including its ex-members from the audience .... the solo performances, particularly BobHendrick '50, playing "Deep Purple" on the piano and melting the crowd .... the perfectly audible praises and otherwise of Director DonCobleigh '23 during the singing as he kept the boys in tune.... the skits by the Club from barber shop harmony to Sunday School choir complete with short pants.... including their breath .... the parading about afterwards seeing more old friends than you could name .... embarrassing .... the noisy visiting around tables near the very long bar .... the flash of pictures being taken by newspaper men .... the beaming faces of everyone, even the Committeemen—John Knutsen '40, Louis Weitz '35; Dick Loughry '34; Karl Bruch Jr. '40; "Red" Flyn '29; "Ruby McFalls '16; the unexplainable taste for just water by Jack Gilchrist '35; the look of "it's worth every mile" on Ernie Hedler's face, up from Hudson, 0hi0.... the unaccustomed presence of so many women, and exceptionally charming and beautiful—of course—at a Dartmouth function .... the flash of faces passing —Prexy Bill Steck, Clark Sorensen, Bob McCloud (from New York), Bob Fairbank, Bob Cheheyl, Bob Morris, Bob Swander, Charlie French, Swede Lindstrom, Dan Swander, Eben Cockley, Howie Schuman, Dan Close, John Davenport, Clifford Vogt, Tex Forbush, Spencer Cram, Sandy Mills, Osborne Mills, Jack Wilhelm, Kirk Spitler, Bill Schlesinger, Charley Wagner, Nelson Ranney and hundreds more .... the opinion of all that this was one of the best affairs ever held by our Club.
