Coach Red Hoehn followed the general southern trek during spring vacation, but was able to slip in only one match because of the vagaries of the weather. This lone conditioning contest was lost to Navy by the score of 6-3. The men on whom the burden of the season's play will fall are, roughly in order of their current rating: Paul Campbell, Captain Bruce Kenworthy, Charlie Duncan, Herb Boedtker, John Foster, and Wally Howe. With a long and exacting schedule, Coach Hoehn will need all the playing talent he can unearth.

Dartmouth and its tennis team were in the headlines in late March when the DCAC cancelled the two spring-trip matches with William and Mary because the Southerners were opposed to Dartmouth's using the Negro player, Charlie Duncan, at his regular No. 3 spot. Bill McCarter, admirably restrained in his public announcement, declared that it was not Dartmouth's policy to change a team's personnel on the basis of an opponent's preferences.
