Up to this point, the runners, jumpers, and throwers of Coach Ellie Noyes have not yet had a chance to show their stuff in competition. Pending the first meet (against Cornell on January 21), we offer a few highlights on the current personnel. Captain Tom Richmond will lead his team indoors with the 35-pound weight throw and outdoors with the hammer. The burly leader is an outstanding performer in these events. Dick Hill is the leading virtuoso with the shot put. In the sprints, Bobby Tyler lays aside his football shoes to offer a threat to the opposition, in which he will be aided and abetted by letterman John Cooke. In the hurdles, Dartmouth has a couple of sensational sophomores in Pete McCreary and Ted Myers, who broke all freshman records in sight last year and may turn into some o£ the best o£ the long line of outstanding Green timber-toppers.
In the middle distances, Dave Krivitsky and Drew Matthews are the leading performers, together with Sam Daniell, last year's freshman captain, who broke the freshman record in the half-mile. In the distance event, George Clendon should carry on his cross-country activities in able fashion. In the jumps, the two leading candidates are Roger Hillas and Pete Frederick, both of whom, however, are handicapped by knee injuries. In the broad jump, Ed Hale is the leading prospect and John Morrissey is the ablest of the pole vaulters. This team appears to have better balance than has been the case in recent years and should give a good account of itself both indoors and out.
