The New York gang at the Dartmouth Dinner consisted of Mileney, Macdonald, Riley, Ashton and Nutt. Illness kept several of the boys at home and some were "out of town" on business, thus a small but select representation.

Es Crowley is at the Salem Hospital, Salem, Mass., where he now is improving. Young Es is back out of the Navy and has been much worried about his father.

According to Time April 14, 1947 the First National Bank of Boston announces the opening of a Branch at Avenida Rio Branco 18, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on April 15, 1947 with Matthew E. Gately Jr. one of the two managers. Yes, that's Matt and we've told you of the marvelous view from his home windows. Picture in Time gives an idea of the scenery.

Bob Conant has just returned from a meeting of the college Registrars held in Denver on April 21-24; and while there lunched with Don Cunningham and Bob Moore and Tom Campbell '18. He also went out to Bob's house for dinner and bridge so could also inspect the results of Bob's interest in evergreens. He's quite an authority, even to the extent of writing a book. This should be of interest to all of us who own property and are trying to greenify corners or areas and struggling with various evergreens.

April visitors in Hanover at the Inn were Jack Alden, Chip Semmes, General Willson and Ted Davis.

Pat Maloney's daughter Patricia was married on March 29 in Flossmore, Ill. Mr. and Mrs. J. Loy Maloney announced the marriage of Patricia Blackburn to Mr. Latimer Dexter Johns that day at four o'clock at the Flossmore Community Church. Patricia was Smith 1944 and Larry Johns is a vet Army wounded, and according to Pat is a soap peddler.

Wm. S., our Bill Appleyard, has become Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Vermont Transit Co. and the Burlington Rapid Transit Co. The companies announce that Robert F. Thompson '34, Bill's stepson, has been elected President and General Manager of the two companies. Bill is now in bed resting and doing O.K. now after an attack in his ticker.

Hanover paragraph: The Ballet, Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo, hit town April 19th and was a triumph of art and determination over the limitations of Webster Hall Stage The Dartmouth Players gave Shaw's "Candida" on April 23, 24 and 25 with skillful cast and direction Dartmouth College has its first undergraduate constitution. First Undergraduate Council meeting on May 19th Howard D. Samuel '46, son of Ralph Samuel, presented one side of the fraternity problem at the 2nd Forum At the Concert Band big varsity show Nat Merrill '4B was soloist for Von Weber's Concertino for clarinet. Tubby and Marjorie Newill were in town for the occasion Merchants in Hanover were lukewarm to the Newburyport price plan; some said that price reductions made already would cause operation loss of 10%. Others added that a buying increase would be followed by a slump.
