Like a country newspaper, this column gives an opportunity not only for the Wheeler brothers to thank each other for their neckties, but also for the secretary to express his thanks for the kind messages received at Christmas from his many classmates. Also, may he inform those who have known of her illness that wife Theodora, who had a coronary thrombosis early in October, has been at home since Thanksgiving and is recovering nicely from the attack. She is looking forward to greeting old classmates again at the Dodges' next June.

Greetings from the Hastings and a message to the,. Taylors:
"We gave up our idea of settling down in Calistoga to be near the grandchildren, when Rollie Jr decided to sell his ranch and move to another location better suited for raising pure-bred sheep. So now we are back among our old friends and hope we can stay put. Have been so busy getting settled that we haven't had time to drop in,on the Taylors, who live a short distance from us.

Chuck Emerson writes of the Thanksgivingand Christmas doings in Colombia, SouthAmerica, by saying that nothing happens onthe former day, but they certainly go all outat Christmas. He says:
"Between December 18th and January 6th, holidays are so frequent that practically all business is at a standstill. Compulsory vacation time is given then, stores close for annual stocktaking, and factories generally plan their major repairs or expansion programs for that period. For the workman it is one grand spree—many religious parades, professional soccer games, bull lighting, cock fighting, and a continuous hangover tor a high percentage of the population.
Referring to his trip to the States last summer, Chuck said he had some excellent trout sessions in his old favorite holes.
Further word about Emma and Chuck comes from George and Miriam Morris, who were enjoying a month's tour of South America where George was presiding officer for the Inter-American Bar Association meetings in different parts of the continent. He wrote of Emma and Chuck coming to the airport to meet them at Cali, Emma flying up from the coast for the purpose, where she was trying to improve a bronchial condition which thrives better at sea level. George adds that "She was the same bright and youthful looking Emma we have always known." He also says:
"Chuck looked at least ten years younger than he did the last time I saw him. He is still black on top and is concave in the mid-section. He is justifiably proud of the fine, production record the plant under his jurisdiction is making, and has gone to the extravagance of buying himself a new set of golf clubs. He doesn t work on Saturdays, 'because of the doctor's orders,' and certainly is a good advertisement for the physician who has him in charge. Chuck is well aware of the growing social welfare consciousness of the Colombia community in which his big U. S. rubber plant operates. He is a leader in improving the working conditions, wages and hours of the people under his direction. 'A Stranger in a Strange Land,' he, nevertheless, is on top of his assignment."
(Secretary's note—Is there any connection between Chuck's description of the Christmas customs and George's appraisal?)

Bob Sanderson's writing after the recent tornado in Florida, said:
"Except for some road repairs along the ocean front, we have eliminated most of the scars of the hurricane. Any way you look at it, we didn't begin to suffer compared to those who went through the fires in Maine and New Hampshire."
Bob has sold his former house and bought a smaller one at 376 South Ocean Boulevard, Palm Beach, where he and Kae are now residing. The two boys are attending St. Aloysius Academy in Westchester, Pennsylvania.
