ENGINEERING MEN GAVE $15,094 FOR RECORD ABOVE THE FUND AVERAGE
THE FINAL FIGURES FOR contributions by Thayer men to the 1947 Alumni Fund, after making suitable adjustment for a few contributions which are handled through class funds, stands at $15,- 094, about $60 less than in 1946. In a year when the Alumni Fund was aiming at a total about 16% less than that of the previous year and achieving a total 10% less, Thayer men have made a remarkable showing by matching their 1946 contribution within one half of one percent.
This fine result has been achieved by 523 contributors, an increase of 44, or 9%, a most satisfactory gain. At the same time the Alumni Fund as a whole reached its all time high of 13,539 contributors, a gain of 2.4% over 1946.
Average contributions have dropped as the increase of contributors will indicate. This is not unexpected following the special effort made the previous year in honor of President-Emeritus Hopkins. The Thayer man average is $28.86, the Alumni Fund $27.50.
Every Thayer man can be proud of this record. By his efforts in this and prec eeding years, not only has he won a key position for his group on the Alumni Fund team, but he brings added prestige among all Dartmouth men to the Thayer School itself through which a measure of his loyalty and devotion to Dartmouth is focussed. May the good work continue.
