John McLane Clark '32 has become the new owner and publisher of TheClaremont Daily Eagle, the sixth largest daily newspaper in New Hampshire. His interest in printer's ink began in his undergraduate days when he was editor-in-chief of The Dartmouth. After graduation, he joined the staff of TheWashington Post, where, from 1934 to 1938, he rose to the position of editorial writer. From there, he was named in the first class of Nieman Fellows at Harvard University.
He later served as press officer for John G. Winant in the International Labor Office and worked with the office of the Coordinator of Inter-American Affairs under Nelson Rockefeller '3O. In 1943, he joined the Army and was called to Washington for duty in the OSS shortly afterwards. Following a year and a half in England and Switzerland, he was released from active duty in October, 1945. He then returned to Dartmouth for a year as assistant to President Dickey in establishing the new "Great Issues" course.
A resident of New Boston, N. H., he and his wife, the former Rhoda Warren Shaw of Manchester, are the parents of Linda, Alexander, Winfield, and Ellen Clark.
