THE OFFICERS and Executive Committee of your Association turned out 18 strong for the monthly business meeting at Ed Warnke's '19 home on Wednesday evening, March 3. Those present were John Shaw '27, Sid Voice '27, Bill Jessup '30, Jigger Pender '97, Guy Bostwick '27, Frank Hall '41, Carll Buhler '30, Wally Rushmore '32, John Wolff Jr. '32, Gene Sullivan '27, John Roe '27, Elwood Doyle '36, Phil Orsi '28, Art Keleher '27, Rudy Preuss '27, Chris Suttmeier '23, Ed Warnke '19, and Jack Coulson '39.
Elwood Doyle '36, assisted by John Shaw '27 and Ed Warnke '19, has been putting in busy weeks organizing the Dartmouth College Glee Club Concert on Monday, March 29. When these notes go to press that event will .be past history, and your writer knows that he will be able to report it as the most successful affair ever held on Long Island by and for Dartmouth men. This affair and an active part both as chairmen and members of interviewing committees for candidates seeking admission in the class of '52 have been keeping a good many of us busy several evenings a week during the past few months. Carll Buhler '30, chairman of all interviewing groups of Queens, Nassau and Suffolk Counties, has been doing a praiseworthy job. He reports that the number of applications has far exceeded those of past years in this area.
We are pleased to report that Frank Hall '41 is working on an official emblem for our Association which will be an Indian Tomahawk superimposed on a Green "D"with a white background. Frank is the newest member of the Executive Committee and has already handled several assignments very aptly.
For those of you who like to mark your calendars well in advance, don't make any commitments for May. We are going to have our Annual Dance then, and will be ready with a definite date just as soon as we can locate a hall big enough. We also intend to have a four-star program ready for September.
Wally Rushmore '32, chairman of the Membership Committee, asked me to put a plug in for his boys. Like any other Association, we can always use dollars to cover mailing costs. Your $1 dues goes for that purpose so if you've been meaning to—stop putting it off and mail a buck to Wally, 186 Linden Road, Mineola for your dues. You're eligible if you only matriculated, or sweated out four years as a Dartmouth father. We want your support.
Our Constitution Committee has been active, and expects to have a draft of the new By-Laws at the next business meeting. Here-tofore, our year has been from January to January. However, we intend to conform more closely with the college year, and change to September to September.
Bill Coulson '18 has been inactive on Long Island in recent years because he has been in Washington, D. C. A report reached us, recently, however, that he is acting as vicechairman for the Parents' Committee for the Hopkins Center Fund—good work, Bill.
We would like to take this opportunity to welcome the following men to Long Island: Henry Safford Jr. '38, Almon Andrews '39, Cecil Moore '40 and Abbott Combes '41.
Hope to see you fellows at the concert and subsequent affairs. That's all for now, and don't forget to rush your dollar to Rushmore.
