THE MONTHLY BUSINESS MEETING of the officers and Executive Committee of the Long Island Association was held Nov. 5, at FA Warnke's home.
The absence of Rog Allen '37, who so ably has been handling the Alumni notes and publicity, was keenly felt. Rog has been transferred by American Overseas Airlines to Iceland for the next year. Until the end of the current year, when new officers will be elected, Rog's job will be handled by Jack Coulson '39.
Speaking of next year's officers, all you loyal Indians from Long Island should mark the night of Wed., Dec. 10, on your calendars. On that date the annual business meeting will be held at Neiderstein's in Lynbrook. Recommendations for next year's slate will be made by the nominating committee composed of Rudy Preuss, chairman, Mel Katz and GeneSullivan. Additional nominations are expected to be made from the floor, and it is the hope of the present officers that more men from the recent classes will be represented on the Executive Committee.
We were pleased to welcome for the first time in several meetings County Judge HarryCollins 'lB.
Elwood Doyle '36 gave an up-to-the-minute report on the supper dance to be held Fri., Nov. 7. The returns were not all in but he is anticipating a record turnout. Elwood has done a fine job during the past year as chairman of the entertainment committee and well deserves the thanks of every Dartmouth man on Long Island. He has been ably assisted by Ed Warnke, Mel Katz, Sid Voice, John Shaw,Carll Buhler and brother Willard Doyle. As these notes go in the mail the writer, who unfortunately was unable to attend the above affair, heard that it was our best party to date. The crowd of over 75 who turned out enjoyed an excellent dinner and good music. Among those not seen in a long time were ArtKeleher and wife Marion, now back on Long Island after several years ir. Rhode Island. Welcome home, Art.
Worthy of mention was John Shaw's report on athletics. He felt, as did others who were at New Haven on Nov. 1, that we had a well coached club this year and with a little more experience should be tops in the league. This thought is bolstered by the fact that a good freshman club is coming up next year.
Saturday's mail brought word that we have two new men to welcome on the Island, William Holm '32 and Magnus Herbs '35. Hope to see you at the next affair Bill and Magnus.
Congratulations to Carll Buhler '30 who has been recently selected chairman of interviewing committees on Greater Long Island.
DON'T FORGET WEDNESDAY NIGHT, DECEMBER 10; Place—Neiderstein's, Lynbrook; Business meeting, followed by entertainment.
