Walter A. Sidley Jr. of Lawrence told of his experiences in "Operation Crossroad" (Bikini Atoll Atom Bomb Test) and "Operation Highjump" (Byrd's Antarctic Expedition) at a meeting of the local chapter of the S.A.R. held in Lawrence, Massachusetts, on February 20, 1948.
We are told that Nut Root has just retired from Sears Roebuck. I suppose he will shortly become a gentleman farmer or some other kind of a gentleman of leisure.
Jim Huselton is much improved and practically back to normal. Albert L. Hill has moved back to Route 4, Biddeford, Maine. George R. Adams is now at Sybil Avenue, Branford, Conn.
Your secretary will attend the general meeting of secretaries in Hanover the weekend of May 14, get brought up to date as much as possible, and do some advance scouting on the modern reunion technique. I am inclined to feel that late evening keg parties in the rain, sunrise expeditions, class baseball games, etc., will not be particularly popular or well patronized at our next reunion. Sitting in the sun with a bottle of beer—or what have youhas more appeal for me personally. But I suppose I could be wrong about the rest of the class. I'll try to find out what appeals to other classes our age and will hope to pick up some good ideas for submission. And then, of course, there is the question of expense. How much will you want us to spend per head and for what—costumes (?) dinners (?). Certain arrangements, if desirable, will have to be made by June 15, 1948, at the latest, so write me promptly as to your wishes.
Acting Secretary, 75 Federal St., Boston, Mass. Treasurer, 16 Wall St., New York 15, N. Y. Class Agent, 667 W. Randolph St., Chicago, III.
