After consulting with the three “Wise Men” we are informed that the following men, whose birthdays chance to fall in December, were born under the sign of Sagittarius, the Archer: Donovan and Hallett; whereas Gardner,Wheelock, and Edson were born under the sign of Capricornus, the Goat. As a result of these happy circumstances, they are entitled to receive all of the goodies of the season which are their due and the hearty congratulations of all of the members of our class.

Orpha, (Mrs. Paul H.) Brown writes to us from Santa Rosa, Calif., as follows: “The purchase of a book for the Dartmouth College Library by the Class of 1914 in memory of deceased classmates is indeed a fitting gesture.

“I am sorry to be so slow in acknowledging this gift, but I have been away from home this summer in New Hampshire part of the time, in fact, but missed Hanover by a few miles.”

Carroll Edson wrote to Lize Wheelock from his home in Batavia, N.Y., about his travels this past summer. “I had a lovely fifteen-day trip to Hawaii, then attended Internationa! Kiwanis Convention in Dallas. Took in the National Boy Scout Jamboree in Pittsburgh and the southwestern conference of the Boy Scouts at Knoxville, and an area conclave of the Scouts in Norfolk, Va. so have been getting around.”

Our class chairman, Sig Larmon, writes to Lize in reply to the treasurer’s request for class dues, “Because of the urgency of the request, I shall immediately check into my bank balance and other resources, and if this is affordable, you will find the five-dollar check enclosed.” We welcome Sig back to this country.

Moose Englehorn writes to Lize from his home in Philadelphia, “I was surprised to note that your address is in Osterville, Mass. I had thought that you resided in Florida.

“I have never been in Florida, but Maine is one of my favorite states. In earlier years Viola and I had the good fortune to visit there and do a lot of fishing in a variety of locations with CarlBuck and his wife.

“They had an attractive summer home on a lake near Bucksport, which they had inherited from his parents. In addition to the two-story dwelling, they had a modern guest house on the property and a good-sized barn, which they called the ice house. By the way, Carl’s father attended Heidelberg University, where Carl was born. Later, in the U.S.A., when he was a college teacher, he and two other distinguished professors started and organized the University of Chicago for John D. Rockefeller.”

Elmer Robinson, writing to Lize Wheelock, says, “If you can find a better college than Dart- mouth, I’ll enroll there; if you know of a better class than 1914, I’ll join it; and if you find a better wife than mine or two sons more devoted to Dartmouth College run, don’t walk, to the nearest exit!”
