A RECORD NUMBER of 160 alumni officers gathered in Hanover May 14-15 for the annual meetings of class secretaries and treasurers, class agents, memorial fund chairmen and alumni club secretaries. Separate meetings for all five groups of officers were held during the weekend, while joint dinners were held Friday and Saturday evenings and a joint meeting Saturday morning. Athletic events included three contests with Yale, varsity baseball and lacrosse, and a Dartmouth crew race on the Connecticut with the Elis' third varsity.

Speakers at the annual Secretaries Association meeting, presided over by Donald G. Mix 'si, were Sidney C. Hayward '26, Secretary of the College; Charles E. Widmayer '30, editor of the ALUMNI MAGAZINE; and five class secretaries, Joseph W. Gannon '99, F. Stirling Wilson '16, James T. White '24, Richard S. Jackson '39 and Fred F. Stockwell '43.

Members of the administration and faculty giving reports at the joint alumni officers meeting were Prof. Herbert W. Hill, Chairman of Hanover Holiday; Richard A. Holton '18, Chairman of the Alumni Fund Committee; Robert K. Hage '35, Executive Secretary of the Hopkins Center Project; Albert I. Dickerson '30, Director of Admissions; William H. McCarter '19, Director of Athletics; and Prof. Arthur M. Wilson, Associate Director of the Great Issues course.

President Dickey, Prof. Bancroft H. Brown, Palaeopitus President James E. O'Neil '46 and Mr. Mix, toastmaster, were the dinner speakers Saturday night in Thayer Hall.

A highlight of the dinner was the announcement by Mr. Hayward of the winners of the 1948 awards for outstanding achievement as class and club officers. The award among class secretaries went this year to Warde Wilkins '13. The 1948 class treasurers award was presented to Ralph D. Pettingell '12, and recognition as the outstanding club secretary of the year went to Edward W. Atkinson '28 of Columbus, secretary of the Dartmouth Club of Central Ohio. In each case the winner received a copy of the Ticknor Print of early Dartmouth.

Officers elected were: SECRETARIES ASSOCIATION—President, Alex J. McFarland '30; vice president, Ernest H. Earley '18; secretary and treasurer, Sidney C. Hayward '26; editor of the ALUMNI MAGAZINE, Charles E. Widmayer '30.

ceed Richard W. Brown '29 as member of the Alumni Council for a term of three years.

John McL. Clark '32 was named a member of the Advisory Board of the ALUMNI MAGAZINE succeeding Robert C. Hopkins '14.

Members of the executive committee in addition to the president, vice president and secretary are Dr. Wallace H. Drake 'l4 and Lawrence C. Reeves '33, secretary of the Dartmouth Club of Washington, D. C.

CLASS TREASURERS ASSOCIATION—Presi Rufus L. Sisson '14; vice president, Robert M. Mac Donald '21; secretary-treasurer, William T. Maeck '43; member of the executive committee, Harry B. Cummings '27. John E. Morrison '36 was re-elected as executive committee member and also was named Alumni Council representative for a term of three years.
