Certainly one of the finest of all Dartmouth parties is the Annual Spring Dinner of the Dartmouth Club of Richmond at the beautiful home of Dr. Douglas VanderHoof '01. On June 5, the following members of the Dartmouth Club of Washington enjoyed the gracious hospitality of Dr. and Mrs. VanderHoof: Prexy Percy Russell '29, Stirling Wilson 'l6, Lloyd Wilson '3l, Larry Reeves '33 and our Quartet of Charlie Grant '39, Joe Huber '4O, Brad Cole '43 and Mickey Beall. The fame of this quartet is spreading far and wide and they are now making demand performances.

The past month we had two excellent talks at our weekly luncheons, one by Dr. H. A. Corning, Superintendent of Schools for the District of Columbia, and the other by our own Berchmans T. Fitzpatrick '3O, Assistant Administrator and General Counsel of the Housing and Home Finance Agency. In addition, Larry Reeves '33 gave his report on the Secretaries' Meeting in Hanover. For once it looked as though the expense account for this trip, which was submitted for approval, would get by without a word of criticism, but alas, such was not the case! Edmund Freeman 'l3, our great hiker, questioned the necessity of the taxi item.

Many thanks to Lowell Haas '35 and United Airlines for a trip to Hawaii via their excellent technicolor movie.

Herb Harwood '26 has lined up a good program for June. He has scheduled Ross Pollak of the Civil Service Commission and Lt. Gen. W. Steward Paul 'l6 to speak at our luncheons. Then on June 27, he restores to the program for the first time since the war, the Annual Picnic. John English '4O has very kindly made available to the Club his Barberry Bend Farm for this affair and we expect a good crowd of Dartmouth men, wives, sweethearts and children to gather for an afternoon of baseball, croquet, badminton and just plain loafing.

It was a real pleasure to have Nat Burleigh '11 and A 1 Eisman 'l2 drop in at a recent luncheon. To the joy of all Republicans present, A 1 rendered his new song, "Leaping Lena." Bob Moseley 'O4 was another welcome visitor.

A big "Wah-hoo-wah" for Warren Kendall '99, Billy Wallis '94 and Herb Woods 'lO for their fine recoveries from the illnesses which hit them this spring.

The New Athens is air-cooled and is very comfortable on Washington's hot summer days and the food is good. With such a combination you can't afford to miss the luncheons every Tuesday at 12:30!
