Thanks to Church Bacon we can reprint his thoughtful report on the Cleveland Annual dinner in late July:
"The Class of '25 held their annual dinner last night at the Oakwood Country Club with PaulHexter as host. Bud Petre'quin felt that the Class as a whole should know that there were still a few of the aged in Cleveland able to get out after six o'clock at night to hash over old times. Those in attendance were Dick Taylor, Joe Walton, WalterBecker, Bud Petrequin, Paul Hexter, Bob Reading,Norm Smith and yours truly. After, priming the pump with a few martinis, memories of old times were recalled. I wonder if we really had as much fun as we thought we did? We are all old married folks, with various numbers of offspring. FrankBarrett, who was not able to be there because he is commuting to Ashtabula this summer, heads the list with six. Dr. Reading, being conservative, is just starting out and has a future half-back now at the age of two. Bud and I both have boys at Dartmouth now, his son being in the Class of '5O and mine in '51.
You know what most of them do, but maybe it will bear repeating. Dick Taylor, who sold out his interest in the Jim Brown Stores, is now President of the Fred Arbogast Company of Akron, prominent makers of fishing equipment. Paul Hexter is Vice President of the Arco Company (paint manufacturers), Norm Smith is Vice President and General Manager of the Osborne Manufacturing Company, Joe Walton is President of the Walton Coal Company, Walter Becker is a well known orthodontist, Bob Reading has a large medical practice, BudPetrequin is Secretary of the Petrequin Paper Company, and I am Secretary and Treasurer of Allied Mortgages. So much for the commercial end. After a delicious dinner, a little more pump priming was needed and the evening ended with Hexter at the piano and the old fogies tried singing a few songs of the '25 days, such as 'Margie' and 'Dark Town Strutters Ball'. It was a most successful dinner and we all went home tired but happy. Much of the talk centered around the coming '25 Reunion and we are all looking forward to seeing you boys at that time".
