When news is scarce a Secretary has to rely on statistics and unless they be too boring, he will simply say that from his most recent survey, he finds that among the living men of Ninety-One there are 48 grandchildren with French showing up with 12.

From the families of deceased men of the class, the Secretary finds there are 83 grandchildren. The largest number of this group is 13 credited to Sargent. As a number of the class failed to report to the Secretary, he is fully aware that his statistics constitute an understatement.
