Coach Red Hoehn's racquetmen finished on the plus side of the .500 mark this winter by whipping five intercollegiate opponents and dropping four matches. Included among the Indian victims were three very good teams—Amherst, Wesleyan and Toronto. The Amherst triumph, in particular was a feather in the team's hat because the Lord Jeffs had thrashed Army and Williams—two teams which had upset the Big Green in early meetings. The other victories, over M. I. T. and McGill, came as expected, as did losses to Harvard and Yale. Yale hasn't lost a match in three years and Harvard is almost as good.

This was not a Dartmouth team of individual stars. With a nucleus of eight let termen, Coach Hoehn had a well-balanced outfit. Captain Michael McGean and Dean Cameron, two of the squad's most experienced players, graduated at midyear, which was a severe loss to the team. But Tommy Ringe, playing in the No. 1 spot; Dave Kurr, the most improved player on the squad (he advanced from No. 7 last year to No. 2 this season); Ismar Stahl, from Guatemala City, who played in the No. 3 position; Stan Feldberg and John Van Raalte, who alternated in the next two spots, were the team's outstanding performers. All turned in several no. table victories in crucial matches throughout the year. Peter Irving, Paul Simel Parton Keese, Dick Hulbert, Bill Flangan and Rick Austin also contributed to the team's victories.

Along with McGean and Cameron Ivurr, Feldberg, and Van Raalte have played their last matches. That leaves Coach Hoehn with a group of five lettermen for next year. With a fine group of battling sophomores who should develop, the veteran Dartmouth coach looks forward to another successful season next year.
