Dartmouth assistant line coach Bill Battles has resigned to become head line coach at Georgetown. Battles, who has been an assistant here since 1945, was one of Tuss McLaughry's most valued assistions ants. In addition to his football duties, he coached the varsity wrestlers Joe Sullivan, outstanding football halfback for the past four years is also going to Georgetown, as backfield coach. Only 20 years old, Sully compiled an enviable record at Dartmouth. Everyone wishes Joe and Bill the best of luck in their new positions

Jonathan Jenkins, star tackle on the 1948 team, has signed to play with the Baltimore Colts, professional team George Clendon, winner of the College 165-pound boxing title, entered the Golden Gloves tournament and won his opening elimination bouts at Manchester via the knockout route. He lost a decision in the Lowell, Mass., eliminations a few weeks later, however The freshman basketball, swimming and track teams boasted unbeaten seasons and all should provide some capable varsity material in the future

Bill Biggs, Evanston, 111., was the frosh basketball high-scorer. He was also freshman football captain last fall Two freshman hurdlers, Peter McCreary and Ed Myers broke the former Dartmouth 60 yard high hurdles mark held by D. L. Jones and R. M. Hartmann since 1937. McCreary covered the distance in 7.4 and Myers was clocked in 7.5. The old mark was 7.8 The freshman hockey team downed the Princeton freshman, 2-1, in its final game. The team's record for the season was five victories and three defeats. Like the varsity, the freshmen had to cancel several games because of the lack of ice. .... Captain Gordon Kay, Bob Brace, Jack Creamer and Lee Coulter, four members of the powerful freshman swimming team, set a new freshman 440-yard free style relay record of 3:38.8 in a race against the varsity. The old mark was 3:39.7. Coach Ted Belfit's freshman swimmers won six straight meets including a 45-30 victory over Harvard The frosh basketball team included Army, Yale and Harvard among its nine victims.
