The Dartmouth varsity and junior varsity crews repeated last year's trip to Florida during the spring recess, and although no Green victories were chalked up against the southern rowers, the Indians again profited greatly by getting the jump on the Hanover weather. After only one day on the water, Dartmouth lost by five lengths to Tampa University on March 29. The next day, against Florida Southern College at Lakeland, the Green trailed by only a length and a half; and on April 2, at Winter Park, they finished two and a half lengths behind Rollins.

On the return trip north, Dartmouth stopped in Philadelphia to meet LaSalle on the Schuylkill. Without the services of Captain John Helsell, stroke, and Ben Maeck, bow, both of whom suffered injuries, the Indians again made an early race of it But fell behind toward the end, the result of lack of practice and an exhausting trip.

For the Tampa and Rollins races, Dartmouth's boating included Maeck, bow; Mullen, No. 2; Rouillard, No. 3; Timmerman, No. 4; Krehbiel, No. 5; Otto, No. 6; Lewis, No. 7; Helsell, stroke; and Lotz, coxswain. Kramer at No. 2, Emerson and Miller at bow, and Gannon, coxswain, also saw action during the trip.

Five crews are training on the Connecticut this spring—the varsity, junior varsity, first and second freshman crews, and the new 150-pound crew. The freshmen had five days of practice at the Vesper Boat Club in Philadelphia during the spring recess, through the courtesy of John B. Kelly, famed single-sculler.
