The Dartmouth Association of Oregon commenced what we hope will be an active and successful year, with our annual picnic held August 31, at the farm of Arch Diack '29 on the Sandy River.

Last year we had miserable weather for the picnic but this year we were favored with one of those glorious Oregon summer days. Twenty-two persons attended, comprising 17 alumni, two undergraduates, the father of one of the undergraduates and two teen-age boys. After a swim in the river we sat down to a delicious dinner, cooked by the accomplished brother Diack, consisting of barbecued turkey and corn roasted in the husks. Those present were:

John A. Laing '05, our president; Reginald Brummer '19, Fred Sercombe '21, Bob Kendall '21, Ron Honeyman '25, Tom Colt '26, George Friede '27, Sam Martin '27, Dud Sercombe '27, Paul Woelfel '27, Arch Diack '29, Harold Hirsch '29, Sherm Pedersen '31, Charles Mills '34, John C. Laing '38, Hod Mecklem '39. Tom Gianelli, Med., Bob Kendall '53, and David Lee '54.

David Lee is Oregon's contribution to this year's freshman class. He is a young Chinese boy with a very outstanding scholastic record, and was given a liberal scholarship by the College. very well represented.

On Tuesday, October 3, we had the first of our monthly luncheons at the University Club, and on Dartmouth Night, October 20, we are planning a large banquet at the University Club and hope to have the largest turnout in the history of our association.
