The crew also had itself a jaunt into southern waters, meeting Washington and Lee, Rollins, Florida Southern, and Tampa. As they progressed, the crew improved, so that they were able to nose out their final competitor, Tampa, by a half length in a highly creditable performance. Of all the sports at Dartmouth, the crew operates under possibly the greatest climatic and related handicaps, so the boys are to be highly commended for their spirit as well as their showing. For the spring trip, the Dartmouth boat looked as follows: Egon Kramer, stroke; Pete Krehbiel, 7; Andy Timmerman, 6; Frank Heinemann, 5; Jim Toffey, 4; Jock Unkles, 3; Marr Mullen, 2; Captain Paul Rouillard, bow; and Brock Lewis, cox. As a touch of added glamour, the boys have been invited to participate in the Royal Henley Regatta on the Thames on July 5-8. Coach Jim Smith, British-born, arranged for the invitation and the crew will stay in Hanover after the end of college to prepare for this encounter.
