This will come too late for you to be inspired to attend Homecoming, but just so you know, there were a lot of enjoyable and interesting things planned and discussions at the class meeting included some important topics. The biggest loss, of course, is not getting a chance to meet with so many classmates who will have attended. And then there is the football game. Last year I can remember hearing shouts of: "We're one and nine! We're one and nine!" in an obvious attempt to strike fear into our opponents. This year perhaps we had a different chant.

Part of the business meeting for our class at Homecoming will be discussion and resolution of the honorary membership status of the nine women who attended school with us our senior year. Since that has probably been resolved as you read this, go to the Web site, where Webmaster Peter Elias will have the final results. There will also be discussion of our upcoming 40 th reunion (yes, it is not that far away), and progress on our class project, both of which will also be updated by Peter on the site.

While you are surfing the Web, try a site referred by David Prentice that will provide bits of information such as: Main Street once ran diagonally across the Green. And my old dorm South Mass was used as an infirmary in WWII. It is by Scott Meacham, "Notes toward a Catalog of the Buildings and Landscapes of Dartmouth College," Dartmo: The Buildings of DartmouthCollege (updated 2001), at www.dartmo.com/buildings. Its a fascinating read with answers to questions you didn't even know might be asked.

The major theme of Homecoming, at least for the '69s, will be our president Dudley Kay's exhortation that we remember our times together 40 years ago and reunite—not necessarily to relive or even revive those experiences but to share the journey we each have taken since those days. In Duds words, he fears our lack of communication, participation and connection will result in our obituary being the first common link with the rest of the class for many of us. It doesn't need to happen that way. Connectwith one another. There are multiple avenues available. Rail against injustice and fate! Extol the virtues ofyourlifei-Share the experiences you have had since Hanover.

And now, here is a preview of some upcoming news. Besides a review of the Homecoming events, for our next edition we will learn of the travels of Bruce Hamilton, who spent several weeks in China this past summer; we have a follow-up on the activities of Peter Schaeffer; and, finally, some information on one of the many unheard from among us—Steve Harris.

As always, Allen Denison and I are eager to hear from you. As are your classmates.
