Now that the 60th is but a memory—but such a pleasant one—the Secretary takes up the humdrum work of filling in a little space with what has happened since.
First, one would write of the passing on of Mrs. John Walker in May. The Secretary represented the Class at the funeral in Newmarket, N. H.—glad to pay tribute to the delightful member of several reunion committees. For a number of years she had spent her winters in Florida at Sarasota, where she was living when she became ill.
Our reunion was just over when Gray passed on after a long period of ill health. More in In Memoriam. The Secretary and wife called on Mrs. Gray in Cape Elizabeth.
As some know, the Secretary has a summer home in Bay View, Saco, Me., and from there one morning he and his wife left on a tour, taking them to the summit of Mount Washington, where they had the pleasure of seeing the sunrise. Then they drove to St. Johnsbury and called on Mrs. David S. Conant, comfortably located in a pleasant apartment. From there they motored to Randolph, Vt., calling first on Ned Bugbee and his daughterin-law Mrs. Morris Bugbee. Later we contacted the Tewksburys in the same town, finally landing for the night at the Green Lantern in Hanover. The O'Briens were not expecting them and Robert, who was due for his annual talk to the Rotary of Hanover, took the Secretary along to a delightful luncheon of the Rotarians at the Outing Club. At the same club that evening, they were guests of the O'Briens. A card from Mt. Washington had not arrived when they appeared at noon!!
On the next morning, via a route by Squam Lake and Lake Winnepesaukee, they started for Saco but stopped in Rochester, N. H., for a short chat with Mrs. William Wright. This was their second visit with Mrs. Wright, who had previously entertained them at a luncheon.
The Secretary hopes a little later to take a trip through Massachusetts when he will see some more '91 families.
In Scarboro the Secretary and Mrs. Rowe were entertained at dinner by the Healds. Heald has been more or less invalided for some time, but is apparently improving.
