The annual spring meeting and pow-wow for Dartmouth alumni in the Charles River region took place May 8 at the Wellesley Country Club. In spite of a number of conflicting engagements which kept a number of regulars away from the party, some fifty stalwarts were on hand at 6:30 when the doors opened for the Wheelock Tavern. Following the social hour the group sat down to a delicious dinner served by the Country Club staff. At the conclusion of the meal three members of the class of 1920, George H.Macomber, Eben Wallace, and Howard W.Whitaker, with George Macomber doing the honors, tendered the slate of officers for the coming year. In less time than it takes for our beloved Red Sox to hit into a doubleplay the following list was approved and duly installed for the ensuing year:
President, Robert S. Fox '33; Vice-President, Robert C. Bankart '37; Secretary, Richard C. Litchfield '22; Treasurer, Francis C. Chase '35. For the executive committee, Samuel E. Cutler '16; C. Norman Fay '23; John E. Garrod '25; Chester W. Eaton '25; Francis R. Houlihan '36; Vincent E. Wentworth '36; John F. Graham '38; William B. Squier '40; John W. Williamson '42; and Thomas L. McManus '43.
The feature speaker of the evening was Stearns Morse, Dean of Freshmen, who gave a most interesting and inspiring talk on Dartmouth in the spring. After the talk by Dean Morse the alumni gathered around to watch some color movies which had been sent down from Hanover for the occasion.
President Bob Fox is planning three meetings for the coming year and we hope every Dartmouth alumnus residing in this area will make a strong effort to join us and make the club into a strong active unit.
