The Cornell game a year ago was marked by "Hudak's Heave," in which that colorful performer cut loose with a wild overhand shot in the closing second of the game and scored the winning basket. The contest this year was marked by no such heroics. The first half, indeed, was one of the unhappiest seen on the local boards in years, with the Green able to muster a scant 14 points during the whole period, while the Big Red was rolling up 30 markers. In the second half, however, Coach Julian's pupils came to life and got back into the game with a bang. At one point, they were within 6 points of the visitors, only to have the enemy surge ahead in the final minutes.
In the first half, the Dartmouth boys couldn't hit anything. In the second half, for a while, they couldn't miss. In a contest which saw Coach Julian, in desperation, empty his bench, the final scoring for Dartmouth was widely distributed. Billy Biggs was high man with 11 points, Dick O'Neill was next with 8, followed by Kent Calhoun and Roger Pierce with 7 apiece. The Green outscored the Red in the second half, by 29 to 28 points. But the deficit from the disastrous first half was too much to overcome.
