Paced by the publication of our first directory which was mailed to our 241 members around the middle of February, our annual dinner meeting took place at the Longmeadow Country Club, February 16.

Over 70 turned out to hear the talk of Jim"Swede" Oberlander '26, who is currently the medical director of the National Life Insurance Company of Montpelier , Vt. "Swede" gave us an informal and interesting story on the current situation in Hanover. We all listened attentively to the account of how the students are reacting to the war situation. Apparently, everyone is having a tough time to make the necessary adjustments—students first of all, their fathers, and the faculty and administrative officers of the College. Of course, Jim made clear, this problem is not unique at Dartmouth; the colleges generally are facing unprecedented psychological and financial problems.

The roast beef dinner was literally beautiful. The singing, with Vin Breglio '20 at the piano, was convivially impressive.

Congratulations to Babe Miner '23, GeorgeWeston '23, and the rest of the committee who did the hard work which lay behind the most successful meeting. Spen Smith '22, our retiring President, leaves an enviable record of club achievement for the year, including the new directory project sparked and completed by Al Gibney '36.

Already a start has been made in organizing the coming year's activities, and Walter French '12 has agreed to head a committee to provide the wherewithal for the purchase of the film, My First Week at Dartmouth.

The newly elected officers are Al Gibney '36, President; Al Mayer '37, Vice President; Bill Lieson '32, Secretary-Treasurer; and Mike Ferrini '29, Assistant Secretary-Treasurer.
