A class get-together is planned as usual for the class officers weekend in Hanover on Friday to Sunday, May 2-4. Our class is being quartered at the Chieftain Motel. All classmates and wives of classmates are welcome. If you haven't already made your reservation, do it right away. If the past is any indication, there should be a goodly turnout to enjoy a spring holiday in Hanover. There will be a meeting of the class executive committee at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday at the office of PhilMclnnis, with all classmates invited and welcome. Following the meeting there will be a cocktail party and dinner at the Outing Club, which all classmates and wives of classmates are welcome to attend. Please let Phil Mclnnis know as soon as possible if you plan to attend. On Sunday morning, everyone is invited to brunch at the home of Tanna and Bob Fernald prior to hitting the road for home. As anyone who has ever attended one can testify, the Fernalds throw a terrific brunch!

Jim Conkling's wife Donna, of King Sisters fame, has passed along some news of Jim. It seems that Jim is making several trips to China, where he is sharing his expertise in broadcasting and recording with the Chinese people. Jim is president of 8.E.1. Productions, which is making a major motion picture, and he is also experimenting with creative ideas in the media. Jim is on the board of directors of Bonneville International, which owns a number of radio and TV stations around the country. Thanks Donna, for bringing us up-to-date on Jim.

Prior to Tanna and Bob Fernald's leaving for Florida for the winter, Bob praised all 155 class agents and committee members for having done a great job in the 1979 Alumni Fund drive Outstanding were Charlie Nichols for largest dollar volume and largest net increase, Shep Curtis for largest dollar percentage increase and Walt Mertz for greatest per cent participation. Congratulations to all! After spending Christmas with Tanna's family in southern Arkansas, the Fernalds proceeded to Florida. There, Easy and Paul Guibord visited them, with Paul fresh from being runner-up in the finals of the Fort Myers seniors tennis tournament. Bob reported that Rose and Harry Coronis were down for two weeks at nearby Punta Gorda and that Tanna and he joined John and Jane Bouker to attend, via the Boukers' boat, a Dartmouth Club luncheon on Keewaydin Island, with Joe Yukica the featured speaker. Some 110 persons showed up!

A belated note from Louis Benezet advised that he and Maria McAll were married last May in their East Hampton home. Announcement of the happy event was delayed by a trip to an Aspen seminar. According to Lou, Maria has three teen-age sons, and art is her specialty. Congratulations and very best wishes to the bride and groom.

Word has been received that Dave Putnam, a native of Keene, N.H., has been elected a director of New Hampshire Ball Bearings Inc. of Peterborough, N.H. Dave, who became chair emeritus of Markem Corporation last May, has been with Markem since 1939, when he joined the firm's sales department. He became sales manager in 1942, vice president, marketing, in 1945, president in 1956, and was named to chair the company in 1973. And Jack Davis reported that late last summer he was elected to the board of managers of the Appalachian Trail Conference. Meanwhile, Frank Weston is working on his golf game and watching his lemon grove grow in Rancho Santa Fe, Calif.

After almost 40 years with oorg-Warner Corporation, Jim Bragaw will have retired on April 1. Jim and his bride of 40 years, Sylvia, are moving to their adobe townhouse condominium in Albuquerque, N.M., to spend their golden years there. Your class secretary and scrivener beat Jim by retiring from Metromedia Inc. on February 29. However, I will continue for a while as a consultant on a part-time basis and perhaps do a little legal work on the side.

Finally, a reminder that if you are considering attending the William and Mary football game in Williamsburg, Va., on Saturday, October 11, you should make your reservation now for that weekend at the Holiday Inn West, where Barry Sullivan has reserved some rooms for the class. So far at least 14 classmates have done so. Your reservation can be canceled at no charge up to 72 hours before your arrival date. The Holiday Inn is within walking distance of the stadium, which is important, as traffic will be horrendous for the game. Let Barry (536 Washington Building, Washington, D.C. 20005) know if you plan to attend.
