By the time this intelligence reaches our eager readers, the events reported hereinunder will be approximately two months old. Hence the activities will not be exactly in the category of spot news and we shall, accordingly, be mercifully brief. With certain striking exceptions, this has been an unhappy season for most of the spring sports and the several coaches have perforce devoted their talents to building character and hoping for next year. The baseball team finished in last place in the Ivy League. A lone victory over Brown (who tied with Princeton for the title) is the only item on the credit side to show for its pains. The lacrosse team, handicapped by the serious illness of Coach Dent, did not have one of its best seasons. Although several individual performers more than lived up to expectations, the track team as a whole did not fare as well as Coach Ellie Noyes had hoped. The tennis team was composed largely of sophomores and juniors and hence was also building for another year. Under the tutelage of Coach Tommy Keane, the golf team came through better than had been expected and showed up with a heartening percentage of wins in dual meets. We may turn to a very brief resume of the overall activities of each of the above aggregations.
