STRAIGHT LETTERS AWARDED TO 1927 HOCKEY TEAM
APRIL, 1927

The award of the straight D, symbolic of Intercollegiate Championship was voted on by the Dartmouth Athletic Council to the members of the 1927 hockey team.

In explaining the Council's vote in reference to the hockey award, Harry R. Heneage, supervisor of athletics, pointed out that the Green team, which this year played IS games and met teams from seven other American colleges and one Canadian institution, had been defeated during the season only by Harvard and had later in a return engagement tied Harvard in a contest that went through three over-time periods.

Dartmouth defeated Princeton twice, and won also from Yale, Cornell, Hamilton, Williams, and Bishop's University. One game with Yale was tied at the end of an hour and a half of play in the New Haven Arena.

In the IS games played the Dartmouth skaters scored 68 goals to opponents' 19. The men awarded the straight Das members of the hockey team are: Captain C. L. Hardy '27, W. B. Fryberger '27, F. C. Gardner '28, M. J. Lane '28, G. B. Bott '29, R. M. Fryberger '29, R. Rogers '29, and C. A. Shea '29.

The Council also ratified the election of F. Gulden as freshman hockey captain and awarded the freshman hockey insignia to the following men: E. Armstrong, H. E. Booma, R. C. Booma, J. J. Guilfoy, F. Gulden, E. J. Jeremiah, M. G. Mclnnes, and L. L. Richards.

The election of B. W. Brown '28 as water polo captain and N. E. McGrath as freshman swimming captain was also ratified.
