The Dartmouth Club of Western Pennsylvania was represented at every football game this fall, and at the luncheon meetings on the following Wednesday the members who attended the games gave a brief report on the highlights of the games. Red Friesell gave his comments on how he refereed the game and made the mistake of the fifth down. Ave Daniels, who was line coach under Earl Blaik and who scouted Cornell, told how Dartmouth planned to stop Cornell with the use of the looping line. A few of the South Hills (suburb of Pittsburgh) Dartmouth alumni and wives now have a monthly social of one type or another which was started last summer. We have held several picnics, a square dance, a Halloween party, and plan to have a smorgasbord at the John Birds' in December. Those who have attended practically every one of these functions are Fred Garfield '46 and wife, Jim Olson '43 and wife, Sam Coombs '44 and wife, John Bird '44 and wife, Jim Hooker '43 and wife, Carl Tourtellot '45 and wife, Bob Pease '45 and wife, Harry Bmibaker '41, Carl Krough '41 and wife, Bob Douglas '48 and wife, and Mac Corner '44 and wife. Everyone going to the party has been requested to bring one Swedish dish and a container of cocktails.
On January 29 the Dartmouth Club of Western Pennsylvania is giving a banquet at the University Club for President John Dickey, who will give us a first-hand report on the College and its activities. Stew Steffey '41 is chairman of the affair and the Club promises to roll out the carpet for President Dickey, who hasn't visited Pittsburgh since 1946.
Plans are being made for a father and son luncheon, to be held on December 26 at Danny's Restaurant. Harold Perkins '25 is chairman. Rusty Coles, referee of the Dartmouth-Princeton game, is going to speak on the latest unfavorable comments concerning the roughness in the Dartmouth-Princeton game.
