The reason these notes have not appeared in the ALUMNI MAGAZINE since last fall is that the secretary has been ill with polio since that time. However, he is back now carrying on his activities as usual.
Several couples from Pittsburgh went to the Cornell-Dartmouth game and enjoyed a splendid weekend watching the game and visiting the festivities at the various fraternity houses. Even though the Dartmouth football team did not make a very good showing, a lot of fun was had meeting old friends. The following persons represented the Dartmouth Club of Western Pennsylvania at the game: Jim Olson '43 and wife, Mac Corner '44 and wife, Bob Douglas '4e and wife, Carl Tracy "49 and wife, Ed Chinlund '29 and wife, BillHinkel '33 and wife, Jim Wylie '51 and date, and Ed Johnson '51.
About fifty Dartmouth alumni and students attended the Christmas luncheon at the Pittsburgher Hotel and were honored to have Dale Armstrong '46, who was home for the holidays visiting his folks, attend the luncheon. Dale is now in the United States Steel Company's sales office in Chicago.
Ed Byrkit '47 was transferred to Philadelphia with the George S. Richardson engineeling firm effective February 1. Also, Ed and Sally were blessed with a baby boy the last week in January and are now enjoying family life in Philadelphia. Sorry to see you go Ed, but the best of luck in your new job and raising a family.
The Dartmouth Glee Club Concert was held at the Carnegie Lecture Hall on April 12 and a dance was held at University Club afterwards for the alumni and students attending the concert. Gus Cummings '27 was chairman of the Concert and Dance Committee trying to raise $500 for the Scholarship Fund.
Carl Tourtellot '45 was to march down the aisle April 12 with Trudy Beiswenger, a very lovely gal from Elizabeth, N. J. The Aylesboro Avenue Club where Carl hangs his hat when not with Trudy threw an April First Party on March 31. As entertainment a short skit was given featuring "Greasy Fingers Tourtellot" as Senator Kefauver's head witness. John and Irene Bird, Bob and Jennie Douglas, and Mac and Velma Corner enjoyed the skit and Carl's very powerful drinks.
