In its September 13 issue The Saturday Evening Post ran an article "Why We Picked Dartmouth" by the father-son writing team of Pete Martin and Peter B. Martin "51, former Undergraduate Editor of this MAGAZINE. "It was time, I thought," wrote young Pete, "that someone put down on paper that Dartmouth isn't a group of buildings wrapped around a Winter Carnival snow statue"; and most Dartmouth readers have been pleased with the rounded way in which the College was interpreted. The College has placed an order for reprints of the article and any alumnus who missed it can obtain a reprint by writing to the Secretary of the College.
Dartmouth added a third local fraternity this summer when Theta Chi was ousted by its national organization for refusing to abide by the racial restriction clause in its national charter. The fraternity has adopted its chapter letters, Alpha Theta, as its local name and has been officially sanctioned by the Interfraternity Council.
For the first time in its history, the College opened this fall with two Vice Presidents on the administrative staff. Justin A. Stanley '33, Chicago lawyer, arrived in Hanover last month to take over direction of the College's development program. John F. Meek '33 has added the title of Vice President to that of Treasurer of the College.
