Lots of grist for the mill this month. The word out of Illinois is that Jack Reno was scheduled for the Cabinet if Adlai had gotten the nod from the voters but that's the way the ball bounces. Dutch Holland reports that he's figuring on the biggest policy ever written, to cover 15 million Federal employees. Billy Alton, erstwhile buzz-saw of the squared circle, is lacing on the gloves again for a go at Robinson's vacated title. Red Gristede of the same-named food chain has a lion by the tail in a new edible that combines the snapcrackle-pop of breakfast cereal with the quiet substantiality of flavored gelatin. It looks like a money-maker from here; but there are some shares open, so maybe you'd like to drop him a line. Jack Gilmore, high among the nabobs in the Bureau of Infernal Revenue, looks for a 30% cut in the income bite. Art Ecker, curly blond kid of '31, but a real big man in the suture and scalpel fraternity, is about to publish his tome on The JuridicalStatus of Twilight Sleep in Interstate Commerce a sure-fire best-seller, I hear.

Dick Holbrook, focal factotum of the Executive Committee, reports seeing Ollie Hayward down from his New London ranch astride a Percheron cross-towning on 44th. Pete Evans put through a long-distance to ask for approval on a method he has devised for investing class funds in Latvian oil rights. I had a feeling everybody would put the seal on this, so I okayed it. Let's hope for the best. Beany Thorn, behind-the-scenes power in the Ike land-slide in N. Y., will be top-spotting in D. C. come January. Red Rolfe more than slightly shocked at bid to become Baseball Commissioner for Mediterranean League headquartered in Cairo. Still undecided. Joe Choate sotto-voced that he's about ready for his solo flight in faster-than-sound. Sounds exciting but lonesome. Spence Miller, Maine-Central prexy, being groomed (pun) as one of ten-best-dressed in next nation-wide listing. It's those railroad ties, indubitably. Greg Moore epistles from San Antonio way that he's seen Marty Zinn, confabbed at great length about the Big 20th, and hopes that whichever reunioner put the printer's paste in his shaving cream will step forward and settle this Texas fashion. I know nothing about this, but maybe a swim-suit tycoon bearing a remarkably similar name would care to make some comment.

Charlie McAllister chairmaned a meeting at the Dartmouth Club (N. Y.) to discuss the Memorial Fund. Hank Richmond, Dick Cukor, Vic Rockhill, Dick Holbrook and your scrivener joined in the forumbling - and one of these days you'll be getting a letter from Charlie outlining the problem and the plan. Ed Stanford, now Professor S., named Director of University Libraries at University of Minnesota. Chuck O'Neill proudly flaunting personal invite from his Edinburgh nibs, The Duke, to attend coronation. Seems they met when the Bridgeport Sachem was in jolly 01' getting background for his next book, It Isn'tThe Fog, It's The Grog.

There's lots more of the same to pass along but it'll have to wait 'cause space is needed to list all you nice guys who made the Alumni Fund such a much. I'll probably be hearing from some of you fairly soon but, meanwhile, I hope that '52's exodus is exciting and '53's genesis is jolly. Or ... resorting to the vernacular ... Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! See you again next month.
