Giving real expression to the closely-knit ties that bind our class group together were the many Christmas and New Year greetings received by your secretary from the living members of the Class and families of deceased classmates. They were much appreciated.

Mrs. David N. Blakely, ill from a heart ailment, recently spent a month at the Faulkner Hospital in Jamaica Plain, Mass., where, under treatment of her family physician, her condition was much improved. A few days following Christmas she returned to her home at 1070 Beacon. St., Brookline, Mass., which is being shared this winter with her friend for many years, Miss Dorothy M. Whitcomb of Springfield, Vt., a niece of the late Walter R. Whitcomb of the class of '88, familiarly known by his classmates as "Josh" Whitcomb.

Our late classmate Charles S. Lurner arranged with Mrs. Currier, not long before he died las-t April, to have his fraternity pin in Phi Delta Theta presented, after his death to the Phi Delta Theta fraternity in Hanover with the request that it be given to some deserving member of the delegation pledged for membership in the fraternity immediately following his death. As planned, Mrs. Currier, with the assistance of your secretary, promptly carried out the arrangement made, for which she received from the fraternity a letter expressing deep appreciation. The writer also wrote: "The interest shown by the secretary of '89 toward a former classmate made a big impression on our brothers, and to think that a brother from the class of '89 kept and cherished his fraternity pin all those years deeply moved us."

At a statewide gathering of Democratic party leaders held in Butte, Mont., early in December last, a Democratic national committeeman for Montana was elected to succeed our late classmate O. S. Warden. While in session, the entire gathering stood for a moment of silent tribute to Warden's memory. Following the election of a national committeeman, a resolution honoring the memory of Warden was offered by the delegates and adopted in the following form:

"Whereas, death has removed from our midst Oliver S. Warden, for 18 years national committeeman of the Democratic party of the state of Montana; and Whereas, members of the Democratic party of the state of Montana, in meeting assembled at Butte, join the people of the state and of the nation in mourning the passing of Oliver S. Warden; and Whereas, none are more cognizant of the value of the wise counsel, the outstanding ability, and the intelligent leadership provided by Oliver S. Warden, than are the members of his party whose organization he served so faithfully and effectively during the more than 60 years of his residence in the state; and Whereas, Oliver S. Warden served the people of his state and the nation in many positions of high trust, ineluding service as president of the National Reclamation Association; member of the board of directors of The Associated Press; Democratic national committeeman for the state of Montana since 1934; chairman and member of the Montana highway commission; chairman and member of the Montana water conservation board; president and member of the North Montana State Fair board; and in other positions providing unselfish service to the people of the state and nation; and Whereas, the Democrats of Montana do mourn the passing of their fellow Democrat and leading citizen, Oliver S. Warden, whose services as a citizen, publisher and builder of Montana are without parallel; Now, Therefore, be it resolved, that we do by this resolution express our deep sense of loss at the passing of Oliver S. Warden and by this resolution do attest our respect and veneration of the memory of this outstanding citizen whose passing will leave a void it will not be possible to fill- Be it further resolved in voicing this profoundly sincere tribute, it is the desire of the Democratic party of the state of Montana in convention assembled that the members of the O. S. Warden family be advised of this action or the convention and further that copies of this resolution be made available to the press."
