Well, here we are in the spring of things once again. The winter in most of New England was mild and left us early. Now, if O.P.E.C. would move on and leave their barrels behind we d really enjoy ourselves. Undoubtedly, the lack of correspondence is due to the price and shortage of oil. For all you intellectual types.
First, the usual round of applause for the man who re-invented the Bronx cheer, JayJosslyn. Josh produced another stuffed newsletter, from which I will gladly Xerox or pilfer. Josh, incidentally, has been seen and heard lately pounding the pavement in the Beantown. Lewiston, Maine, is where Heathcliff resides these days, insuring for the Dunlop Agency.
Also in Maine (Oxford) are Gene "Skibo" Skibitsky and wife Leslie. Leslie relays that their new son Ben (class of 1997) was born in February and "looks just like a miniature 'Skibo'!" What grocery bills? Daddy Skibitsky has a new job as assistant director of Western Transportation Co. in Rumford, where they "provide transportation services for elderly, handicapped, and those not able to provide for themselves ... covering three counties." Thank you, Leslie, and congratulations from all. P.S. Mrs. Skibo would like to know if there are "any other Theta Delts left in the world. Don't see much news of them!" Well, John Gleason is in Boston where he is "taking night courses pursuing a degree in nursing." Jim Clamage (you might know him by that universal nickname "Clam") is working for that prestigious firm, Frederick's of Hollywood. Apparently, he's working in the design department. That figures.
The melodious voice of Carolyn Kohn has her singing opera - charitably - for a wayward boys' home by night. She works as a Bankers Trust vice president in the government bonds area by day ... all done in N.Y.C. Carolyn sees Adrienne Alexander, who is also operaing (?) for the Metropolitan Opera, and hears from Andrea Quaid, who is residing in Chicago.
A bit of relayed Xerox news has Ann Fritz engaged to Lance Hackett, possible H.T.H. Ann is attending Stanford Business School while her fiance is at Harvard Business School. That's what you call long distance. Ann expects to be receiving a record-amount of cash from all - or is it that she doesn't expect a record amount ... whatever, the message is clear.
Rugby players play with leather what? Members of the Mystics Rugby Club of Boston caucusing at a local establishment included Jack "The Dipper" Brennan, Dan Carragher, Pete Cowan, and Dan Kenslea '75. (CathyJoyce was also attending, but she's not sure whether she'll be playing this spring). Tom Parnon was not there; he apparently was in Hanover, mowing the lawn at Memorial Stadium. Great job, Tom.
Other bits of wedlock news have CarolynJohnson engaged to Braden Allenby. Carolyn is associated with the National Savings & Trust Co., and her fiance is an attorney with the Civil Aeronautics Board, both in Washington, D.C. Also, Greg Yates is engaged to a young lady from the Class of '78 and Hanover, Catherine Colligan. Greg, after graduating from Thayer School, is employed by Bell Telephone Labs in Holmdel, N.J., as a computer engineer.
Anchorage, Alaska, U.S.A. Did you hear about the two people who froze to death at the drive-in movie? They went to see Closed for theSeason.
Classmate Of The Month Award: ToddMorris. Todd is expecting his third child and says. "I don't even care who the mother is, I'm just happy to make medical history."
Expected to be more informative, but the local Alumni Dinner was cancelled. There was trouble (oil shortage) transporting the D.D.A. chefs from Thayer Dining Hall, so I was not able to get the audio update.
A last-minute phone call from Chicago reports Kip Hall marrying Debbie Britt Mixer, of Hanksville, Vt., on June 23. Kip says he has a British law degree and is acquiring a "quickie" law degree from the University of Chicago before returning to the U.K. I could give names of invites but will keep your suspicions high.
