The most successful annual dinner meeting for many years was held on March 28, at the Engineer's Club. Prior to the dinner, the business meeting was held in the Junior Room. During the meeting, we learned that our Association is solvent, is represented in the local college and country club Softball (last year third out of ten teams), is active in furthering the interests of the College as far as helping the Admissions Office. Our Jack Heston gave us a very enlightening and informative report covering the process of selecting Dartmouth men and how the freshman and sophomore classes compared. The whole talk left us with the feeling that the Admissions Office is doing an excellent job but still needs our help on the local level.
Our charter was amended so that the annual dues could be set by the executive committee according to our needs. An amendment was also passed to the effect that the executive committee is now composed of the club officers, two elected men, and the retiring president. Then the election of officers was held, and the results are as follows: President —Victor Smith 'l7; Vice President—JamesTindle '36; Secretary—Robert Bach '47; and Treasurer— William Mackinney '32. Before the meeting was adjourned the members voted a word of thanks and appreciation to the out-going officers, who have done a wonderful job. We, new officers, hope to make an even better Association.
After the business meeting, dinner was served. The Class of 1947 had the most members present at the afEair. It seems this class is replacing the Class of 1928 as the most active one in our Association. After dinner, a very fascinating talk was delivered by Professor Foley; a most amusing and yet serious talker. His ability to change pace from the audience-warming joke to a most serious and informative discourse is remarkable. I will not spoil a future talk by elaborating, but I'll say this much: don't miss an opportunity to have him as your speaker.
