Roger McArt has agreed to become chairman of our 35th Reunion, according to Class President Art Kelton. Art said a committer was being formed to help in planning the reunion. Roger and Sandy McArt live in Wilton, Conn., and he works for Personnel Corp. of America in Norwalk, so he's close enough to Hanover to rectify the inevitable challenges to a smooth-running reunion.
Art visited in mid-June with Oscar andNyla Arslanian, discussing key elements of the plan for our 1993 special national reunion, "Dartmouth Goes Hollywood," in Los Angeles May 6-9. The elements: May 7: private back-lot tour of Paramount Pictures; cocktail reception at executive commissary, Paramount; dinner at "Oscar" Room, Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. May 8: class symposium; beach party in Santa Monica; cocktails, dinner, and rock 'n' roll at the Mandrian Hotel.
Oscar and his committee have been at work planning the reunion for more than a year. Art said excitement for the reunion was building among East Coast alumni, and support was strong among the guys living in California.
Ron Wybranowski—a very successful reunion chairman from our class past—has moved to Boston. He and Joan have taken an apartment in Back Bay near Copley Place. "The house was empty, the kids were gone, and it was time to 'stir the pot,'" he writes on newly created letterhead for "Pace Systems Group, Information Systems Development Specialists."
"I am still consulting for financial services companies," he wrote. "Pace stands for 'A Positive Attitude Changes Everything. " Isn't that just a wonderful name for a firm headed by a very determined individual? He said Joan is working as an executive secretary for an Ernst & Young tax partner.
Ron also sent along a clipping from the Boston Globe reporting the August 18 death, from cancer, of Frank Mahady, a judge and former justice of the Vermont Supreme Court. The obituary said his "intellect and integrity were hailed even by those who disagreed with his often civil libertarian court decisions." An obituary will follow in a future edition of this magazine. "Mr. Justice Mahady" was featured in the December 1987 issue of the Dartmouth Alumni Magazine.
Art Kelton gets around. The Keltons went sailing with Henry and Laurie Eberhardt on Cape Cod in the town of Dennisport. "We had a couple of great days together," he said. The Eberhardts are doing well. And Art reports that Cartter and PattyFrierson have bought a place in Vail, so he got a chance to spend some time with them. Cartter has been among our more active classmates over the years. The Friersons call Lookout Mountain, Ga., home. Cartter's business is over the state line in Chattanooga, Tenn.
