Greetings again, people. Let me hit you with some presidential news. Beloit College (Wisconsin) has chosen Roger Hull as its new president. Roger was vice president for development and planning at Syracuse University. He also taught law and political science at Syracuse. He will be the eighth president of Beloit. Before entering academia, Roger worked as a corporation and securities lawyer in New York City, served as special counsel to the governor of Virginia, and worked with the United Nations Security Council's international task force on the law of the sea.

Carl DuRei, our distinguished head class agent, received the acclaim he deserved by receiving the Harvey P. Hood Award as the outstanding head agent of classes 11 to 25 years out.

Bill Madden has recently opened a synthetic lubricants manufacturing company in Rahway, N.J. The name of the company is Sci-Technics. Both Steve Blecher and Herb McCord attended a party celebrating the opening by breaking a jar of Vaseline against Herb's head. Talking about Steve Blecher, he has just completed a year as senior administrative officer at Lehman Management Cos., Inc. Wife Amy, Andy, 8, and Jeff, 4, enjoy having Steve more often at home now in his new position. Steve chartered a 39-foot sloop to race in the British Virgin Islands Spring Regatta and won three out of three races in the charter division. (This performance is in the true Dartmouth Mosbachian tradition.) The boat's crew and sails sported the green and white colors of Dartmouth. JackKindergran moved into the same neighborhood as Steve last fall after many years of globetrotting for Caltex Oil. Each of Jack's children (two girls) was born in a different part of the world. Jack is corporate controller in the New York headquarters of Caltex.

Gary Foote married Peggy King, a financial analyst with the International Paper Cos. in New York. Gary is a marketing group product manager with Ferrero U.S.A., a confectionary company with headquarters in Turin, Italy. (Roy Orbeson sang "Candy Man" at the reception and George Hamilton 111 presented the bride with a rose and a Baby Ruth.)

Pete (Chubby) Luitweiler sends along some news about Chuck Peltman and himself. Chuck works in Amoco's legal department and recently worked on a large project in Nigeria. Pete recently testified before a House subcommittee concerning the Iraq-Iran war and its impact on oil prices. Over eight TV cameras and lots of lights were focused on Chubby, who deftly fielded all questions. Later, however, Chubby made an appearance (April 12) on Sixty Minutes where he was interviewed by Morley Safer and had a terrible time fielding Morley's questions. Not only did Chubby have a problem fielding the questions, but he ended up with his baseball glove in his mouth. (Just kidding, Chubby, but you were caught between a rock and a hard spot.) It seems Gulf Oil did not pay all the royalties due certain Native Americans out West. The field production reports did not coincide with the payments Gulf made to the Native Americans. Pete admitted that Gulf made an error. The error was about $80,000,000 dollars. (Oh well, business is business. I am sure Chubby got well oiled after that interview). Let it be known that it was not Pete's error. He was given the tough job of trying to defend a tough problem. It turned out to be Custer's last stand.

Now for a letter from Bob Shirley, who I enjoy quoting as he faithfully provides me with entertaining material: (I quote) "On the funside, please be advised that the team I curl with at the position of vice-skip has wrapped up the Chicago Curling Club Championship for the second time. On the business side, though I don't think it qualifies for the ALUMNI MAGAZINE'S "give me a wah-hoo-wah for . . . " column, I've just been elected president of the Food, Beverage, and Equipment Executives Association of Chicago. Regards to all." Thanks for the note, Bob.

Well, I'll be talking to you all next fall. Have a good summer, everyone. Bye.
