DON'T MISS '07'S 45TH
As these notes are written, May 1, 44 '07 men, 28 '07 wives, and a few '07 children have reported that they plan to attend the 45th on June 13-14-15. Many have not yet indicated their intentions. A final bulletin, to be mailed about May 10, is expected to indicate a substantial increase,. perhaps a total of 60 men and 30 wives. And that may prove to be conservative.
The members of the Reunion Committee want each of you to be with us, if you possibly can. We know it to be a rewarding experience. If, as you read this, you decide you can and want to join the gang, come along, with or without notice. You will be very welcome!
An event unique in '07's reunion history will be the joint dinner of '06-'07-'08 on Friday, June 13. It is expected to increase the life-expectancy of all hands by not less than ten years. You shouldn't miss it!
A reception and dinner in honor of ProfessorJames M. O'Neill was held in Brooklyn, N. Y., on April 29. Jim will retire in June from hp faculty of Brooklyn College after serving since 1935 as Chairman of the Speech Department having previously headed corresponding departments at Dartmouth, and at the Universities of Wisconsin and Michigan.
Our President Jim O'Neill is quite a man, you well know. But do you also know about his interesting and capable children? An intensely interesting article about Jim's daughter Margaret appeared in the March 22 issue If the Saturday Evening Post. Hope you saw and read it. "As head of the radio branch of the Information Division of the Mutual Security Agency mission in Rome, Miss O'Neill plays an important role in propagandizing America's efforts to help Italy help itself." -That's all space permits about Margaret O'Neill, but Jim will tell you more about her and his other children—at '07's 45th, June 13-14-15.
Cully Pierce, writing from Vero Beach, fla., in April, reports that he met Jack Wallace '07 at that resort,—and ten '08 couples.
Orlando C. Davis has retired from his post as Chief Librarian of the Boston Public Library. Our classmate has devoted his life, since graduation, to the librarian's profession, and has served at Dartmouth; at Waltham, Mass.; East Chicago and Hammond, Ind.; and at Bridgeport, Conn., before joining the Boston Library staff in 1934. Listed in Who's Who inAmerica and Who's Who in New England, he has made an unusual record in his chosen field —We hope to see him at Hanover on June 13, 14, 15. (Those are the dates for '07's 45th, in case you've forgotten.)
A salute to "Duke" Sanborn and to his bride! Duke writes on April 6,—"1 am a married man again. Have bought a very attractive little home at 1033 Tyrone Blvd., St. Petersburg, Fla., and am making St. Pete my permanent home. Bill Walker will furnish you with all the details of my whirlwind romance, engagement and marriage. I have a guest room and the latch string will always be out to any and all members of '07 and their wives. A Wah-Hoo-Wah for the Duke and missus—If they will return to '07's 45th and tell us their story, all will be forgiven and toasts will be drunk.
