The first business of your secretary, who has returned home after an extended vacation, is to express thanks to "Greb" for taking on the responsibility for '07 class notes, and to congratulate him for his very interesting reports.

When these notes reach you, the informal '07 reunion, in association with '09, will be only a few days away. The scheduled dates for the joint gathering are June 13, 14, and 15. Rooms will be available in a dormitory not yet assigned. These who wish to reserve a dormitory room should apply to the Bursar later this month or early in June. There will be no broadcast appeal to all 'O7 men, though all are welcome, but a representative group of classmates living in New England is anticipated.

'07 men have been receiving, and surely enjoying the '09 class letter, edited by Jack Childs, who, with "Greb," has developed a welcome interest and friendship between '09 and '07. This secretary knows of no class letter more entertaining and newsy than "Dartmouth Diddings," and always enjoys it.

The informal reunion plans will be informal: music and entertainment on Monday evening, June 13; and a joint dinner on Tuesday night, expense to be shared by the two classes.

Harry McDevitt and George Grebenstein represented '07 at the service for Bill Cunningham '19 on April 20.

Because of a printing error, it has been reported that Bill Jennings is '07's oldest classmate. The fact is that Walter Nesmith, who was born on April 25, 1877, is the oldest, and Bill Jennings, who was bora on September 16, 1878, is the second oldest. Both men are reported to be in excellent health, and both, we hope, will lead '07 for many years.

John Harold Jordan died on December 8, 1959, probably in Waukegan, Ill., where he had lived for many years. The cause of his death is not yet known. He leaves two children: a son, John Murray Jordan, and a daughter, Mrs. Ellen E. Riley. His wife died on October 26, 1943.

"Harry," as his classmates knew him, spent many years in the tanning business. He served as general superintendent, and as vice president, of the Griess-Pfleger Tanning Co., in Waukegan, Ill.

Harry's son attended Cornell and his daughter went to Rosemont College. Mrs. Jordan lived at Jersey City, N. J., when she married Harry.

He was an excellent athlete on track and relay teams at Dartmouth. After receiving an A.B. degree, he attended Tuck School and received its M.C.S. degree. Harry returned to Dartmouth infrequently. He did, however, return for '07's Fiftieth Reunion.

'07 suffered another severe loss from its ranks when George Howard died on April 18. He was certainly a leader throughout his very active life as a lawyer and an expert in the field of public utilities. George received the A.B. degree and Phi Beta Kappa scholastic rank as an undergraduate. He was a member of Phi Kappa Psi, Sphinx, and Paleopitus, and editor-in-chief of both the Aegis Board and "The Dartmouth." After graduation, George entered Harvard Law School, and received the LL.B. degree.

Then he went to New York and began his outstanding career as an able lawyer in the firm of Simpson Thacher and Bartlett. He became known as an expert on public utilities when leading bankers decided to attempt through a holding company to bring together in a single company a combination of a number of leading companies. The bankers chose George Howard as the President of the holding company.

The financial editor of a New York newspaper appraises George "as always a very warm, kind, and considerate friend." "Few

men in their lifetime," he says further, "have won the affection he held in Wall Street, nor the respect he always held. He was a man of integrity. His word was his bond. He was one of the best-informed men in Wall Street."

George's son, George Howard Jr., is a partner in Harris, Upham and Company, a New York Stock Exchange member.

George was born in Craftsbury, Vt., on Nov. 24, 1884. He has now returned to that quiet and peaceful village. Sam Bartlett represented '07 at the services in New York on April 19.
