Readers of our Class of '99 36th Report, issued last June, will realize, we feel, by the extent and the variety of its contents why its preparation took so long. It was a composite effort involving much research, correspondence and editing. This Scribe hopes everyone has enjoyed reading it. Copies were sent to all classmates and to all widows of classmates; to all members of the second generation; to some libraries; to a number of Dartmouth College officers and to all Dartmouth class secretaries.

K and May Beal celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at their home July 7. Families of their two sons, Arthur R. of Melrose, Mass., and William M. of Winchester, Mass., and four of their six grandchildren were present. Their five-months trip south last winter was really a part of the celebration, for most of the time there was spent with the other two sons, George in Atlanta, Ga., and K. Malcolm in Miami, Fla.

Eddie and Sadie Skinner enjoyed a visit of several days with the Beals at their home at Bradford in August.

Louis Benezet writes that the West Honolulu Rotary Club has named him editor of the weekly bulletin and news-letter, which keeps him hustling two days of each week. His numerous ex-students write to him frequently and it worries him to think how many of these letters are unanswered.

Late in July Warren and Helen Kendall began a trip of six weeks to Alaska. They expected to return to their Sarasota home the middle of September.

Art Irving had a tough siege of several weeks in the hospital early in the summer. Following an operation he made a good recovery, which was good news to several classmates who knew about it.

"The Woodman Musical Slide Rule" is a new time saving instrument for musical transpositions and arrangements with an accompanying Exercise Book. It was devised and copyrighted by our Leon Woodman and enables a musician to transpose music into any key, major or minor at the flip of a finger. It is also especially helpful to those studying a musical instrument when on occasion transposing music from one key to another is important. The slide rule sells for $3 and the exercise book for $1.00. The Secretary sent it to the Dartmouth College Library.

Only about eight months before our 55th Reunion. The matter of housing has already been taken up with the College. Apparently rooms at the Hanover Inn will not be available except to a few who may be enfeebled. It is hoped that Massachusetts Hall may be available with the upper floors to be used by the younger generation only. Suggestions including those for the program are invited for the consideration of a Reunion Committee.

See In Memoriam for an article about Arthur Kimball who died July 28.
