Dean Upgren's recent activity includes talks before the Credit Association of West- ern Pennsylvania and the Robert Morris As- sociates of New York City as well as attend- ance at the Conference of Business Econo- mists in Washington and a research meeting of the National Bureau of Economic Research at Riverdale, N. Assistant Dean Hill and Dean Upgren at- tended the testimonial banquet for Mr. Hill's brother, Robert C. Hill, in recognition of the latter's appointment as ambassador to Costa Rica.

Mr. Robinson attended the Conference on Policies to Combat Depression sponsored by the Universities-National Bureau Committee for Economic Research, at Princeton, N.J. Some sixty of the country's leading economists attended.

That student affairs are in competent hands for the current year is evidenced by the outcome of this fall's elections, as follows: Clearing House President, Stan Westberg Vice President, Paul Paganucci; Secretary, John Mitchell; Treasurer, Bob Goode; Social Chairman, Fred Carleton; Athletic Committee, Alex Alex Athanasopoulos and Gene Gabianelli. Chase House Committee Bob Henderson, Dick Hall and Bill Barker. Woodbury House Committee Bay Yee, Clark Brink and Bob woodberry. First-year Student-Faculty Committee Ned Hoban, Dan McCarthy and Dick Gates.

Al Estrada T'52 has an executive position with La Esperanza, largest soap-and-synthetic detergents producer in Mexico; on a visit to Scott Paper Company, Dean Hill met up with five recent Tuck grads Walt Sonnenberg T'53 (accounting), Frank Weurfel T'49 (accounting), Bud Scheu '46 (purchasing), JimGay lord T'51 (Chester plant) and Jim Balderston T'52. Other Tuckmen with Scott include Howard Schneider T'48 (accounting), Ernie Beattie T'50 (sales) and Ed McLaughlin '48. Beattie won the president's cup in a recent company sales contest.

Babe Shea T'35 has never a dull moment as assistant manager of warehouses for J. C. Penney Company coordinating activities of three warehouses employing 1400 people, representing the warehouse interests in the central buying office, and negotiating labor contracts with New York and St. Louis unions. Roy Jerman T'49 assists the general manager of Princeton Knitting Mills, Waterbury, Conn., in solving all sorts of production problems; Paul Caravatt T'47 has deserted the media field to join Biow Company in charge of Whitehall Pharmacal accounts; Roland Glasser T'53 requests that no one tell Macy's that he is section managing at Gimbel's; Burt Flounders T'53 covers the Philadelphia area for Kendall Mills; TomLoemker, Murray Friedland, Jim Branch and Harv Kelley, all T'53s, were last reported doing a variety of things at Camp Dix. LenLarrabee, Craig Hausman, Lou Zehner and Peter Eckert, also all T'53s, are in a shortcut program leading to direct commissions in the Finance Corps, at Fort Harrison; enrolled in the enlisted personnel at Harrison are George Pandaleon and Rog Malkin, also T'53s and also looking forward to commissions.

News of last June's graduating class has come in as follows: Alex Achmatowicz with Jordan Marsh; Nick Serenyi in the GE marketing training course; Em White with New York Telephone Cos.; Don Wagner in GE training course; John Rosenwald with Sullivan, Stauffer Colwell & Bayles , Inc.; Ceb Bemisch in Europe for Pan American Airways; Jim Branch and Harvey Kelley at Camp Dix; Rog Malkin, George Pandaleon LenLarrabee, Pete Eckert, Lou Zehner and CraigHausman at Fort Benjamin Harrison in Indianapolis; Tom Loemker at Camp Kilmer; Pete Lebowitz with Fairmount Steel Corporation in Philadelphia in charge of all personnel activities.

Outside speakers, during October were George Sprague T'26, Merchandise Manager, Kendall Mills; Sumner. Robinson '24, Vice President for Sales, Bigelow-Sanford Carpet Company; and Preston K. Mears, Assistant Manager, Specialized Reports Department, Dun and Bradstreet.
