THE series of articles that the ALUMNI MAGAZINE has been running this year in cooperation with the Committee on Educational Policy is continued this month with Education for What? (Page 17) by Charles Leonard Stone '17, Professor of Psychology and a member of CEP, which he headed in the years immediately following World War II. Professor Stone, offering "some postulates of general education" that he has personally developed in his long and distinguished teaching career, views the goal of liberal education as a better design for living.

We are pleased to print, in this issue, another of the outstanding lectures delivered in the Great Issues Course. The Responsibilityof Management (Page 23) was the subject on which Clarence B. Randall, president of the Inland Steel Company, addressed the senior class in December. Mr. Randall, a nationally known spokesman for American industry, proved to be one of the most articulate and forceful speakers to visit the Course since its start, and his Great Issues appearance was a stimulating experience for the seniors. We know that Dartmouth alumni will share the seniors' interest in his views.

Winter Carnival has come and gone, leaving behind some rain-soaked memories and a number of pictures which will be found illustrating The Undergraduate Chair (Page 25) and With Big Green Teams (Page 28).
