Edgars A. DeWitt '82 now has the distinction of being Dartmouth's oldest living graduate, succeeding William R. Tillotson '77, who died on March 9 in Barnesville, Minn., at the age of 96.

Mr. DeWitt, who lives in Dallas, Texas, was 95 on his last birthday, December 7. Alert and active, he enjoys his friends and until recently was in the habit of going to his downtown office each morning. For many years he worked for Ginn and Cos., textbook publishers, retiring at the age of 74 and serving for the last 18 years as a partner. While at Dartmouth he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He has always followed Dartmouth alumni affairs closely and from 1913 until 1920 he was a member of the Dartmouth Alumni Council. He had a summer home in Marshfield, Mass., for some years and regularly attended his class reunions. Like several others who have lived to be Dartmouth's oldest graduate, Mr. DeWitt is a New Englander (his birthplace was Templeton, Mass.) who moved West soon after graduation. He has a son, Roscoe P. DeWitt '14, and three married daughters.
