The '28 delegation won the prize for the largest attendance at the Boston Alumni Association dinner March 4, following right in the footsteps of the '28 delegation in Philadelphia: But let's hear about it first-hand, from Rupe Thompson:

"Last evening was the Boston Alumni Association Annual Dinner, presided over by President Red Edgar. Five hundred Dartmouth men heard addresses by President Wriston of Brown and President Dickey of Dartmouth. There were also two undergraduates on the program. Red handled the meeting superbly and each man on the program did a grand job.

"1928 was very much in evidence with two large tables right before the head table, and we were all more than pleased to win the silver loving cup awarded to the class having the largest attendance. There were 21 of us there

and I am sure I asked more than half of that number about Reunion without receiving one negative reply. My hopes are high for a wonderful attendance.

"Those members of the Class present were: Red Edgar, Ernie Bessette, John Brew, Ed Flanders, Jeff Glendinning, Bob Grey, Craig Haines, Mutt Jennings, Jack Kenerson, Jules Lemkin, Wes McSorley, Maurie Makepeace, Larry Martin, Jim Mullen, John Nixon, Don Norris, Jack Phelan, Topper Robinson, Red Sanborn and Fran Young."

There isn't a doubt in the minds of any of us connected with Reunion but what our 25th will be the best-attended and most successful reunion Hanover has ever seen. Wish you could see the letters coming to Reunion Chairmen Jim and Helen Campion and to me, saying, "Am coming and bringing the family," "When do I make room reservations" "Send me the addresses of the following..." "Can we stay over in our dorm rooms the following week?" As Publicity Chairman Curly Prosser pointed out in his "Advance Notice" masterpiece, you'll never have another 25th Reunion! At this point it looks like a record-breaking attendance of 500, including 200 classmates, almost as many wives, and over 100 children.

Stu Goodwillie, formerly manager of business relations for Sylvania Electric Products, resigned April 2 to go with Stewart, Dougall & Associates, Inc., 30 Rockefeller Plaza, New York, management consultants. Stu says, "I am certainly counting on attending Reunion."

John Brew was elected President-Elect of the American Anthropological Association at the annual meeting in Philadelphia. After one year in that capacity, he takes over next year as President. Our clipping service has furnished clippings in Spanish and English with pictures of Dana Condon on the occasion of his appointment last month as General Agent for Cuba for the United Fruit Cos. As one Havana paper editorialized, "This is not an occurrence which suddenly and unexpectedly added luster to his career. It is the just reward for long, faithful and efficient service." Dana says, "I was up in your country for five days around the first of March and I hope the Company leaves me in the tropics (or semi-tropics) for the rest of my natural life. I borrowed the heaviest overcoat ever imported into Cuba and yet I nearly congealed solid. I saw snow for the first time in 25 years! Even the New Yorkers with barely their eyes exposed were not enjoying that temperature. Why will people continue to live under such impossible conditions?"

Former Congressman John McGuire accepted this month a position as special representative of the National Association of Druggists (all 36,000 of 'em). He has an office in the National Press Building in Washington, and will continue his real estate and insurance business in Wallingford, Conn.... Murray Sawyer's daughter Sylvia attends the University of New Hampshire. Murray is a lawyer in Concord, N. H.

After city dwelling for a long time, the BillTreanors really enjoy their home in the country (Chappaqua, N. Y.) and Bill has already been elected president of the local country club. They are now in Europe but will be back in time for Reunion.

How our boys do get around! The Ed Lymans of Springfield, Mass., flew to Puerto Rico in March for a stay at the Hilton, with reservations arranged by Si Simons of the Waldorf. A week later Herb and Dot Russell of Suflield, Conn., flew to Bermuda for a week's rest. About the same time the Son Middlebrooks planed to Florida for a week with the Campions and Curly and Allene Prosser headed South for some sunshine at Summerville, S. C.

Red Pelton of Olean, N. Y., writes,

"Not having seen my roommate senior year for 25 years, on the weekend of January 17 after attending an insurance meeting in Syracuse I took the train for Boston just to look up Ken Chase. I found him at his office in Cambridge. Only had part of the day to talk over the last 25 years but it was worth it. I also looked up Homer Whitford who is playing the organ and directing the First Congregational Church of Cambridge. He has attained quite a reputation as an organist, teacher and composer. His best known number as we are concerned is "Dartmouth Undying." He was one swell guy you remember his glee club under Gordon Graham won the intercollegiates when we were in school. Ken drove me to the South Station just in time to catch the New Yorker."

About people you'll see at. Reunion: Bill Embier's oldest son is attending the. General Motors Institute in Flint. Bill is Deputy Controller of the State of New York and has a staff of 140 accountants examining the fiscal affairs of counties, cities and towns.... Mush Emery's daughter Susan is attending Smith.... Bill and Thelma Downing are bringing Rhoda, who is 17 and a student at Gould Academy, Bethel, Me. Bill is manager of the Littleton (N. H.) Hardware Cos. and vice president of the New England Hardware Dealers Assn. ... Wes Wood of R.D. 3, Troy, N. Y., says the most exciting recent event is "the skunk who is living under the kitchen will appreciate advice on how to discourage same and how to get the skunk out of the dog. Will also appreciate free advice from any of the medical profession on how to cure diverticulitis the easy way.".. The Sreenans announce the engagement of their daughter, a senior at Wheaton, to L. H. Rouillard of Saratoga Springs, N. Y., and Cambridge, Mass. Bill is vice president of the Middlesex Federal Savings & Loan Assn., Somerville, Mass. . . . Billand Betty Dietz are bringing their sons, 18 and 12. The National Board of YMCA's (of which Bill is Asst. Treas.) sent Bill and Betty on a three months' inspection of its properties abroad last spring a month in Italy, a week in Cairo, a week in Geneva, and some time in Germany and Paris.... Jack andHelen Skinner welcomed their son home from overseas duty recently just in time to get a family picture for the Reunion Book. He has been in the Army six years. Jack is a free lance writer, currently writing broadcast program series, and magazine articles for The New Yorker, ThisWeek, etc. Jack being a poor correspondent, it has taken ten years for the news to reach us that he served on Lt. Gen. Drum's staff during World War II as Intelligence Officer and instructor in MP and infantry combat tactics.

It looks like almost 100% attendance from Omaha. Gil Swanson writes, "I know Crawand Ethie Pollock are planning to be at Reunion, and I am sure Dick and Ev Walker plan to be there too. Roberta and I hope to be aboard with you."... Their oldest son Gib Swanson is attending Shattuck Military School in Minnesota.... George and Marion Davis of Glens Falls, N. Y., plan to return to Hanover with Larry and Martha Kenney and ArtKneerim. George's hobby is a newly acquired dairy farm in Tinmouth, Vt....Buck andLouise Buckingham of Flint, Mich., are anxious to see everyone as they haven't been to Hanover since 1931 ....Monk and GinnyDavenport have a grandson almost two years old; their son was Dartmouth '49 the first '2B son to get to Dartmouth.... Hod Carver's daughter is a senior at Mills College and Thad is at Taft 5ch001.... Chuck Davis is back with Sears Roebuck in Chicago after over a year's leave at the request of the Chicago Ordnance District, where he purchased 500 million dollars worth of tank and automotive equipment. Before returning to Sears he was Business Administrator for the Citizens for Eisenhower, State of Illinois. After that hectic job, Sears was like a rest cure.... Dick and Janet Canton's older son has high hopes of going to Dartmouth this fall —he was captain of the swimming team and manager of the year book at Worcester Academy.

Likely candidates for the prize for traveling the greatest distance to Reunion: Bob andViola Reid of Los Angeles and Rick and HildaRickenbaugh, their daughter Ann (Smith '53) and son Kent (Andover '55). Ann was chief receptionist for Eisenhower when his headquarters was in Denver last summer. Rick saw RedSanborn and Jeff Glendinning in Andover and Larry Martin in Boston last fall, and he got Red Fauntleroy of Houston and HonieWesthaver and Families together in Denver last summer. .. . Mac and Esther MacEachran are coming from Manitowoc, Wis., where Mac is president of the Romort Mfg. Co. and Republican county chairman.... Other long treks will be by the John Harlows of Tucson, whose visit to Hanover will be their first since 1928, and who will bring their four children (ages 15, twins 13, 8). John is a nursery owner and landscape architect. They will explore caves en route, since that is the family hobby. Chet and Winifred Hallom are bringing their two children, Dana, 17, and Jane, 14, from Fort Worth, where Chet is vice president of Haltom's Jewelers, Inc.

When we go to Hanover next month let's have that $115,000 all tied up with a bow on it, and be able to feel that every man in 1928 has counted himself in on the second biggest Memorial Fund gift ever presented to Dartmouth College by any class at its 25th Reunion!
