The major event of interest to members of the Washington Club in December was the annual luncheon for undergraduates from this area. Held on December 27 at the Touchdown Club, an over-capacity crowd of 130 people appeared. This included most of the forty-five undergrads who were invited and their fathers, along with about twenty likely prospects for the class of 1961 and their dads.
Although the head table was graced by the presence of four prominent federal judges and a District of Columbia Commissioner, the speakers of the day were two students, Gordon Holterman '60 and Tom Bransford '59. True to form, the freshman speaker presented the more idealistic talk, while the sophomore took a more carefree approach to current happenings in Hanover.
Of course, our singing group, "The Sons of Eleazer," rendered a couple of the school songs. This amazing aggregation has performed several times since it was formed last year and has never been composed of the same singers twice. This particular ensemble had grads from the class of '18 to the class of '56. Although their voice range may not be great, they seem to make up for it in age range.
