About the middle of April I received an announcement from the Secretary of the College inviting me to the annual Alumni Officers Weekend in Hanover, May 8-9. This yearly gathering brings together class secretaries, class agents, class treasurers, club secretaries, class gift and class bequest chairmen, and class presidents and chairmen.
At the time of the gathering this year, President and Mrs. Dickey were on the West Coast, meeting with the alumni of Spokane, Seattle, and Tacoma. John R. McLane '07, senior member of the Board of Trustees, and Mrs. McLane therefore received at the Friday afternoon reception and Mr. McLane spoke at the Saturday evening dinner.
I accepted the invitation eagerly but then was obliged to express my regrets owing to a business engagement which took me to Rochester, N. Y.
For many years these annual spring meetings were attended only by class secretaries and treasurers. Many a lobster dinner has been served to secretaries and treasurers, and at these dinners important speeches have been seriously and jocosely uttered. The Alumni Officers Weekend has now dilated into the importance of our Commencement Day in 1895.
I wish classmates would write to me.
