I plead guilty to the charge, "No Class news in the '95 column for two or three issues."
My long-cherished friend and classmate. Joel Harley, wrote me as follows about the middle of April:
"The old boys of '95 keep asking, 'What has become of Roland?' We do not know. He has had no word in the last two or three numbers of the ALUMNI MAGAZINE and we surmise that is significant. Hope you are not seriously ill.
"I, too, have had my turn in the hospital and am none the worse for that experience, except for $300.
"Gertrude came down and spent about four weeks with us, then took flight to Washington, D. C., to attend the National Convention of Republican Women. She was one of twenty-one delegates from Wisconsin. She writes she had a wonderful time.
"I haven't seen much of the boys this winter. Rice spent the winter at Mt. Dora, thirty miles away. He has already returned to Bloomfield, N. J., to his son's home. Austin is looking fine. His diet of milk, crackers and eggs seems to agree with him.
"Hope to hear from you either by letter or by the '95 column in the ALUMNI MAGAZINE.
"With all good wishes, good-bye and Wah-Hoo-Wah! Joel." In another letter, received May 1, Joel writes as follows:
"Your two cards received yesterday. So glad to hear from you but sorry to hear of your illness. 'Take it easy' is my constant advice. Yes, but I find that is hard work.
"About the '95 reunion. Let the young fellows in '95 have as many reunions as they like. I can reunite no more. You have served the Class long and efficiently. Thanks a lot. I am too weak and feeble to attend any meetings and never can hope to be improved. Coronary thrombosis cannot be cured. Goodbye and God bless you."
I suggest that we take special notice of this letter and write Joel.
In my inquiry of classmates about a possible reunion in June, a reply from FrancisMason says, "I favor having an informal reunion this June. I hope to be able to get there, as I am about as near as anyone, except you and Holden."
